Re: Andrew Tone

Dear Financial Aid Appeals Committee:
Thank you so much for your financial aid offer to my son and for taking the time to read this letter. My son is looking forward to attending college in the fall and hopes to major in English. He also plans to try out for the Rugby team and join the school newspaper staff.
My husband’s company downsized last month and his hours were cut at the plant. No overtime pay will be allowed this year. Last year with overtime, he was making a little over $40,000 a year now with the cutbacks he will be making only $30,000. I am scheduled to have a root canal next month. We do not have dental insurance and the dentist is telling us that it will cost $2,000. Unfortunately it is an expense I can no longer delay. We are getting by for now, but we need some additional help with our son’s college expenses.
Andrew Tone was very active in our community this year. He ran the Jump Rope for Heart campaign at the local elementary school. He was able to rise over $3,000 for the Heart Association. The paper ran a story about him. He will do an internship at the paper this summer and write a column about sports from the teen viewpoint. He loves sports and was named All-District in Rugby last year. Is there any merit aid he might qualify for?
While XX University is Andrew Tone’s first choice, he also received an award offer from YYY University. They are offering him and an additional $5,000 in grant funding. Is there any way you could march that offer? Please let us know if there is any other funding available to help us pay for our son’s education at your school.
Thank you again for your offer and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,

Sarah
